Just about every detail on this baby was stolen from the Sputnik 1, the Voskhod rocket, and the MiGs 17 and 21. Except for the floating nose rings, which were stolen from just about every comic book printed in the 50s.
And yeah, it does look an awful lot like Darth Vader's ship. My lame but totally, totally flawless defense is that Vader's ship is no miracle of originality either. So there.
Heheh! We can thank the Soviets for it. Well, at least for the rocket stuff. The jet stuff we can thank the Americans who's stuff the Soviets ripped off. And I suppose we should probably thank the Nazis who's stuff the Americans and Soviets ripped off. Should, but won't!
That's a very nice design, so retro, with the Mig-19 style and all. I once got the chance to explore a mig-17 and a Mi-24 helicopter they had lying outside the national history museum, it was too awesome... most of the plane is actually one big pipe where a person can fit in, the engine is very deep inside, almost directly behind the pilot seat!
Yeah! I love 50s styled fighter planes, which basically look like a giant jet-engine with wings and a cockpit kinda squeezed into it almost as an afterthought.
