I actually watched MLP in the 80s (when I was 7), so that last panel cracks me up!

Such a catchy song, and such fun animation to go with it. Truly the highlight of the movie

Um, how does the "big mare, small mare" classification work, anyway?

Heheh! One thing that made the original Futurama joke so funny for me was the fact that the 'big' and 'petite' amazons looked pretty much the same. That joke seemed to work tenfold with MLP, since most of the ponies use the exact same body template. In fact, I purposefully avoided choosing mares like Luna, Mrs Cake or Fleur de Lis that had different body builds for this joke.

As for the logic of who's big and who's petite... well, just look at the humanized versions of most of these characters and you start to see the logic. Pinkie's gluttony and rubbery hijinks makes it easy to imagine her as 'big'. Rainbow is a racer, and most female olympic runners in real life are pretty small in the chest area, and so forth.

That makes sense, I suppose.

But yeah, as you said with the joke in Futurama, I was wondering if there was any difference.
